Get Down with NEW at Their Totally Awesome ‘80s Holiday Party
Bend, OR – November 19, 2010 – So like, the Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NEW) is throwing a totally awesome eighties holiday party on December 7, 2010. And you’re invited to dress up, step out and shake a leg.
You just have to be there. Not only will you get to relive (or experience for the first time) some of the most memorable fashion faux-pas in recent history— including leg warmers, parachute pants and shoulder pads—you can recreate some of the funkiest hair styles ever known to man, woman or beast.
And you’ll get to party down with—and learn about—NEW, a non-profit organization that provides professional and personal growth opportunities to women in all levels and stages of business.
The evening includes music and dancing, heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, a no host bar (with one free drink), fun photo ops, raffles, a giving tree, a costume contest and more.
Tickets cost $30 a person, with proceeds going to benefit the Serendipity West Foundation. This Central Oregon non-profit organization is working to stop bullying in our schools and to awaken teens to their potential by bringing Challenge Day and other youth-centric programs to our area. Challenge Day is a day-long interactive workshop where teens, teachers, and community members experience for themselves that compassion and connection are indeed possible. To date, Serendipity West Foundation has directly impacted over 1,400 teens and 500 adult volunteers.
“At NEW, we believe in supporting and giving back to our community as much as in providing our members with business sharing opportunities, relationship building, growth and learning,” says NEW president Lisa Sloan. “After recognizing Serendipity West Foundation’s founder and CEO Carol L. Oxenrider with our Leadership in Action award earlier this year, we wanted to champion her organization at our holiday party.”
The cause helped shape the event. “Since we’re raising funds for Serendipity West, which supports teenagers, we wanted to help everyone relive the unbalanced sense of being that age,” says Maci Herbert, NEW’s membership co-chair. “So instead of throwing a regular holiday party, we figured that we’d make it fun and funky by going with an eighties theme.”
How can you not want to help raise funds for such an important cause or join such mondo cool chicks, all of whom are as committed to helping our community as they are to networking and partying down?
So here’s the 411 on NEW’s bitchin’ holiday party. It’s on December 7th from 6pm-9pm at the Deschutes Brewery Mt. Room, located in Bend at 901 SW Simpson Avenue. For tickets, go towww.networkwomen.org. But hurry . . . there’s only room for 150 attendees. Be there or be square.
