The Art of Outdoor Alchemy: Crafting Spaces That Speak to You

It’s almost spring and we all are daydreaming about warmer, sunnier weather. In this presentation, our speaker, Eileen Obermiller of Dappled Earth, dives into the art of crafting stunning landscapes that are not only a feast for the eyes but also in harmony with nature’s rhythm.

Our focus? A design philosophy that turns your unique tastes and preferences into breathtaking reality, all while giving a nod to the natural systems at play.

Think of it as a dance between your dream garden and the environment. Eileen will describe how to the lay of the land – literally– assessing both the natural and built elements of your site,  and establishing flow patterns and carve-out spaces for your favorite outdoor activities. Best of all, she illustrate how to do this while ensuring nature gets its space to thrive.

The real magic happens when she helps us select plants. It’s not just about what looks pretty. She’ll delve into choosing flora that fits perfectly with your site’s microclimate, drainage, and sun exposure. It’s like matchmaking, but for plants and places!

Throughout, expect a sprinkle of practical wisdom, a dash of realistic expectations, and a treasure trove of resources. Whether you’re a green thumb enthusiast or just love a good-looking garden, this presentation will equip you with the know-how to make your landscape dreams a vibrant reality.

The audience can expect to achieve the following:

1. Define and explain the three key components of a successful landscape: custom design, proper installation, and knowledgeable maintenance.

2. Illustrate how these components interact and contribute to the overall success of a landscape project.

3. Provide insights into achieving these components using abundant resources, emphasizing the balance between quality and practicality.

4. Set realistic expectations for each stage of the landscape process, from design to long-term maintenance.
