SUMMARY:Advance Directive Workshop - Feb 9th\, Bend
DESCRIPTION:Brandie Foster used to be a nurse\, and now she’s in her sixth year of working in real estate. Through her experience\, she sees a recurring issue: people failing to plan for their estate (Wills and Trusts) and medical care (Advance Directives). Whether it’s in healthcare or real estate\, Brandie’s goal is to help others address these gaps and improve their planning. \nShe often hears two responses: “Brandie\, I have an advance directive\,” or “Brandie\, I don’t know what that is.” Either way\, she knows most advance directives lack crucial details\, leaving loved ones in the dark when critical decisions arise. These four-page forms tend to start with “everything’s fine\,” skip the difficult middle parts\, and conclude with the “not fine” scenario. Brandie isn’t trying to scare anyone—she wants to help them tackle the hard conversations and get their plans in order. \n\nThe first problem is the form. It’s too vague and misses essential steps like making a plan and discussing it with the people who will need to carry it out. The beginning and end of the form are straightforward\, but the middle—where most of the real work lies—is the challenge. Brandie’s focus is to help address these middle pieces.\nThe second problem is the doctor’s office. It’s often difficult to get medical providers to dedicate time to thoroughly discuss and complete an advance directive. Brandie has ideas to help individuals navigate this process and ensure it’s done right.\nThe third problem is communication. Whether it’s having the conversation with overbearing children or being the overbearing child yourself\, these discussions are often avoided out of fear of conflict. Brandie has strategies to approach this in a productive way.\n\nDate/Time: February 9\, 3 pm \nLocation: Brandie’s office at Keller Williams\, 233 SW Wilson Ave Suite 102\, Bend \n(connect with Brandie by email for any questions) \nMore information:\nThrough her past and present work\, Brandie has seen families frozen in fear\, unable to make decisions. She’s witnessed these situations play out in hospitals\, assisted living facilities\, nursing homes\, memory care units\, and even private homes. The consequences are significant\, creating long-lasting rifts in families. Brandie is passionate about helping others “thaw” these fears and address them head-on. \nThat’s why she’s encouraging everyone to attend a workshop with Nurse Kari. With an extensive background in nursing and senior care\, Kari is equipped to guide participants through the process of creating or refining their advance directives. \nYes\, the workshop is free. No\, Kari and Brandie aren’t exchanging payments. No\, it’s not about real estate. Some attendees will leave with actionable insights\, while others may realize they need more personalized help. If additional support is needed\, Kari can assist\, but that’s entirely optional. \nTo be clear\, no medical advice will be handed out. This is about starting the conversation and taking steps to prepare. \nBrandie invites everyone—experts\, Google doctors\, overbearing children\, clueless parents\, seniors\, and curious individuals—to join her for an hour or two to discuss this important topic. There will be snacks and wine\, too\, as a way to give back to the community! \nDate/Time: February 9\, 3 pm \nLocation: Brandie’s office at Keller Williams\, 233 SW Wilson Ave Suite 102\, Bend \n\nA special ‘Thank You” to our ConnectW Corporate Sponsor: \n \n…and to our ConnectW Large Business Sponsor: Terry Sprecher with Sprecher Group.
